Eli cannot move because of the drug Haverty developed. Haverty has taken Eli to a lab and is experimenting on him again. How did Vengeful end? Victor tracks down Eli. Schwab brings to life a gritty comic-book-style world in vivid prose: a world where gaining superpowers doesn’t automatically lead to heroism, and a time when allegiances are called into question. In the Villains duology (Vicious, Vengeful) V. Schwab revealed that while writing Vengeful, she had made the decision to merge her ideas for the second and the third book, making the series a duology instead of a trilogy.

Victorious was originally planned to be the third and final book in the Villains trilogy. But as the series goes on, you start to realize that Victor wants to be a sociopath.

He’s highly emotional, and you have Victor who seems emotionally devoid. You go in and you assume essentially that what you have here is the line between a sociopath and a psychopath, right? Eli is psychopathic. However, he collapses from blood loss and Eli shoots him again in the back before walking away unscathed to call the police. Victor numbs the pain and stabs Eli multiple times knowing that he can’t heal unless he removes the knife, as well as using his power to torture him. He returns to find Eli who shoots him twice.
